Before Your Surgery

You and your surgeon will discuss your surgery and hospitalization prior to arriving at the hosptial.   He or she will provide you with instruction on any tests or medical clearances needed prior to surgery.  He or she is also available to answer any additional questions you may have related to your care.

You will receive a confirmation call at your home the night before surgery.  You will have the opportunity to review instructions, ask any last minute questions, and confirm your arrival time the next day.

Important documents to bring

Please bring personal identification (such as a driver’s license) and your insurance card. If you are the patient’s legal guardian, you must bring documents showing guardianship. If you have a living will, advance directive, or durable power of attorney, bring the original or a copy. A copy will be made for your chart. If you would like to make one, we can help. Ask in admissions.

Before your surgery: Call your insurance company to confirm your benefits and to get any pre-approval that is necessary.

Transportation:  You must make arrangements for transportation to and from the hospital, as you will not be medically cleared to drive yourself.
