About kidney transplants

If you suffer from a progressive, chronic kidney disease, you may be a candidate for a transplant.  Our goal is to provide you with the latest treatments and options to improve your outcomes. If you or a loved one could benefit from a kidney transplant, please request an appointment with our team by calling 551-996-2608.

Kidney transplant process

Possible candidates are thoroughly evaluated and your case is then shared with a team of kidney and transplant specialists. They will carefully consider your individual medical details and personal preferences and make a recommendation about the best course of action for you.  If it is determined that transplantation is your best option, you will be placed on a waiting list to receive a kidney from a living or deceased donor. The time you have already spent on dialysis will be considered and factored into where on the list you are placed.

Our procedures are designed to provide you with the best possible outcomes. We are constantly refining and adjusting them to take new developments into account. Our multidisciplinary team includes board-certified transplant surgeons, nephrologists, pathologists, radiologists, urologists, and gastroenterologists, along with pharmacists, social workers, transplant nurse coordinators, nurse practitioners, dietitians, tissue-typing specialists, and other dedicated support staff.

Some types of insurance require a referral. Our team will help determine if your insurance requires a referral, and if so, contact your primary physician’s office to obtain one. If your insurance does not require a referral, you, a family member, or your physician’s office may make an appointment directly with us. You can call us at any time with questions. Our number is 551-996-2608.

As a patient in our program, your care is coordinated by a team of transplant specialists along with endocrinologists, gastroenterologists, nephrologists, transplant nurse coordinators, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, social workers, dietitians, tissue-typing specialists, and other dedicated support staff.
