Bariatric Surgery Procedures

About weight-loss surgical procedures

Bariatric surgical procedures generally cause weight loss in one of three ways: by limiting the amount of food the stomach can hold, by preventing the stomach from absorbing nutrients, or by doing both. Most bariatric surgery procedures are performed using minimally invasive techniques (also known as laparoscopic surgery). We perform the following American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery-approved procedures:

  • Lap band surgery

  • Sleeve gastrectomy

  • Gastric bypass

But your weight loss journey doesn’t end with surgery. Aftercare is part of the special care you receive at HackensackUMC. You can find more information about aftercare here.
